Buddhism and meditation
Outside academia, Dr Sooksripaisarnkit describes himself as a strong believer in Buddhism. Theravada Buddhism guides him, and he practises meditation and chanting as part of his daily routine.
In Hong Kong, he usually visits Wat Buddhadhammaram in Yuen Long, following a Thai forest tradition. In Australia, he has from time to time attended Wat Rattanaprateep Vihara in Thebarton, Adelaide, or Wat Sri Ratana Wanaram in Mylor, Adelaide.
Music
He enjoys Cantonese songs, especially Cantonese oldies from the late 1980s and early 1990s. His favourite singer is the late Danny Chan Bak-Keung (陳百強).
In Hong Kong, he may occasionally be found singing 喝采, 偏偏喜歡你, 一生何求, 戀愛預告 or 有了你 at karaoke.
